Summary Use the Type Bar for bold, headings, alignment, and more.

Select any text in a sheet. The Type Bar appears just above your selection. Click away or move the cursor to hide it.

The Type Bar also works in a Lorebook element’s Notes tab.

From left to right:

Control What it does
Block type menu Turn the paragraph into Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, or back to Paragraph
B / I / U / S Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough
Alignment (4 buttons) Left, center, right, justify
Comment Leave a note on the selected text. See below.
Link Link the selected text to another sheet or a Lorebook element
Image Insert an image after the selected text

A highlighted button means that style is already applied. Click it again to remove it.

Headings do more than make text bigger. Every heading appears in the Companion Panel’s Navigation tab, so you can jump around a long sheet. Use Heading 1 for chapters or parts, and Heading 2 and Heading 3 for scenes and beats.

  1. Select the passage.
  2. Click Comment on the Type Bar (or right-click the selection → Add Comment).
  3. Type your note → click Save.

The passage is highlighted, and a bookmark appears in the comments bar beside it. Click either one to read, edit, or delete the comment. Deleting the commented text deletes its comment too.

To change the highlight color or hide the comments bar, open the Companion Panel → Inspector → Comments.

Links in Cicero point to other sheets and lore elements in the same project, not to websites.

  1. Select the text you want to link.
  2. Click Link on the Type Bar.
  3. Start typing the name of a sheet or element → choose it from the list.

Click a link to open what it points to: Workspace sheets open in the Workspace, lore elements open in the Lorebook. Use Alt + ← (macOS: Cmd + [) to come back.

To remove a link, select the linked text → click Link again.

Links don’t break when you rename the sheet or element they point to.

  1. Select a word at the point where the image should go. The image is placed right after it.

You need a selection: the Image button is on the Type Bar, which only appears when text is selected. To put an image on its own line, type a placeholder word there, select it, insert the image, then delete the word.

  2. Click Image on the Type Bar.

  3. Choose a PNG, JPEG, or WEBP file, up to 10 MB.

Cicero copies the image into your project folder, so it stays with the project even if you delete the original. Images fill the width of the page. Very tall images are cropped at the bottom.
